Thrift shop will be closed the month of July

What is the Thrift Shop?  The St. Thomas Community Thrift Shop was established in 1999 and is open to everyone regardless of income, need or home address.  Customers can shop every Saturday, all year long when we are open.  We have gently used clothing for men, women, and children plus household goods, books, toys and seasonal items.  Our basic price for clothing is $4.00 per plastic grocery bag unless marked otherwise.  When we are contacted by persons with a referral for clothing and/or household goods we let them choose items they can use – for free, one time.

Where is the Thrift Shop located?  The Thrift Shop is located in the basement of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2441 Nichols Drive in Trenton.  Enter through the red door at the back of the church.  The Thrift Shop is open on Saturdays from 9:00 to noon.  We are closed during the month of July and on the day before Easter.

Where do our proceeds go?

            Crossroads,

            Crisis Pregnancy Center

            ChristNet,

            Downriver Salvation Army,

            Episcopal Relief and Development,

            First Step,

            Sewanee School of Theology,

            THAW,

            WAG,

            Trenton Food Pantry,

            Trenton Goodfellows, and

Wycliffe Bible translators (in support of missionaries, Mark and Lynn Onken).

We also gave a $500.00 scholarship to a graduating Trenton High School senior.

In addition, the Thrift Shop donated meals for the ChristNet overnight program and the ChristNet Daytime Warming Center.  We gave household goods and clothing to persons in need through referrals from the Salvation Army, the Trenton Food Pantry and area churches & groups.  We donated clothing to the Chrysalis Boutique clothing closet, the Crisis Pregnancy Center, and the Salvation Army, shoes to Shelter to Home and various items to the Community Care Services program.

How can I donate items?  We welcome donations of gently used, clean clothing, household goods, toys and books.  We do not have the space to handle computers, furniture, large appliances or bicycles.  Donations are accepted on Saturday mornings between 9:00 and noon or by prior arrangement.
