The Heaven Raisers
St. Thomas has an active youth group, called the Heaven Raisers, for children and youth ages 5-18 years of age. We have two Sunday Education Programs for our children and youth. Children 5-9 years old meet every Sunday during the 10:00 am service for our One Room Schoolhouse program. The youth ages 10-18 meet on Sunday during the 10:00 am service for a Bible Study Class. Both programs are approximately 45 minutes long and lead by trained teachers. All teachers and leaders working with our children and youth have training and are certified in the Safeguarding God’s Children program through the Whitaker School of Theology and the Episcopal Diocesan of Michigan.
The Heaven Raisers plan various projects and activities each month. Some of the activities are planned for families, some for the community and others are just for the children and youth. Some of the recent activities the Heaven Raisers have sponsored are, a family dinner night out at Stevie B’s Pizza, made homemade dog/cat treats for our Blessing of the Animals Service, an evening at Farmer Charley’s Corn Maze and a Fall Festival. The children and youth discuss and plan many of the activities with guidance from the adult leaders and parents. Any child or youth coming to St. Thomas for Sunday worship is invited to join one of our education programs and to join in any of our planned activities.
We have our own monthly newsletter called the Heaven Raiser’s Herald which lets everyone know what the youth group has been doing and what activities are coming up. We also have our own bulletin board with current pictures and information about the Heaven Raisers
